About the Texas Gulf Coast Community Colleges Consortium (TGCCCC)

The Texas Gulf Coast Community Colleges Consortium is a partnership of nine public community colleges along the Texas Gulf Coast collaborating to advance the mission of community college education, train the region’s workforce and enrich the student learning experience.

Together the nine public community colleges of the Gulf Coast Consortium enroll nearly 200,000 students in credit courses – almost one-fourth the total enrollment of all community college students in Texas – and another 60,000 students in non-credit Continuing Education and workforce courses.

These students can obtain 63%* of jobs requiring higher education, earning between $50,000* with an associate degree and $70,000* with a bachelor’s degree.

  • It is a good transition between high school and college. ACC is affordable and close to home. While ACC was not my first choice I have come to realize the opportunities I will have by attending a college close to home and am excited to explore and take full advantage of all provided.

  • It was important for me to come back to COM after 25 years for a few different reasons. One, I wanted to continue to learn new aspects of the trade. After so long, the industry has grown exponentially. Two, I wanted to have that piece of paper that make me legitimate. And lastly, I went back to school to set an example to my 15 and 13-year-old. I want them to know that you’re never too old to learn.

  • Alvin Community College offers a vast amount of academic opportunities and provides it at an affordable cost. There is something for every student outside of academics such as theater, Christian organizations, Student Government, Hispanic College Alliance, etc. ACC also provides assistance and information to help when students are in need for instance; scholarships, student worker jobs, catastrophic assistance and even a food pantry. In addition, ACC is involved in the community and that is important to me. #FINSUP!

  • Coming down here changed that. When I first started down here, I didn't know anything about valves, pumps, anything like that, but they're incredibly thorough. They assume you know nothing, and they just build up from that. As a whole, I'd say it's overwhelmingly positive. I really can't think of anything negative to say about it. It's not that hard. If I can do it, you can do it.

  • I’ve gotten to meet a lot of people, get insight and see new perspectives. I feel like if I didn’t know these people, I’d be struggling. They really help you stay level-headed, and they truly do care. It’s really important to me to have people who really care about me in my corner.

  • ACC professors have been very supportive. ACC also communicated many ways to fund college. Those opportunities have led me to meet some great people in wonderful programs like Student Ambassadors, Phi Theta Kappa, and Student Government. Now I’m on my way to further my education in a 4-year university, which I never had planned from the beginning but through ACC the opportunity arose.
