Types of Programs

The Texas Gulf Coast Community College Consortium knows that no two career paths are the same. Whether you are looking to refine your skills or start a brand new path, we offer a large variety of programs to align with your goals, budget, and timeline for college. Community Colleges serve a diverse population, ranging from high school students looking for dual credit, single mothers looking to enter the workforce, to senior citizens with a thirst to learn more. Check out our programs below to learn more information on the types of programs our nine colleges offer.

Associate Degree Programs

Earning your Associate Degree can land you a full-time job that pays over $15,000, on average, per year more versus having a high school diploma alone. Typically, associate degrees are earned in two years. After receiving your Associate degree, you can enter the workforce or transfer to a four-year college to finish your field of study.

University-Transfer Programs

These programs are designed specifically for students who plan to transfer to a four-year University. Our university-transfer allows you to complete the first two years of college and transfer to a four-year institution to complete your baccalaureate degree.

Dual Credit Programs

Our colleges partner with area independent school districts, charter schools, private schools and home school students to offer courses in the core curriculum, foreign languages, and workforce education. Through this partnership, high school students are now able to graduate with college credits and can enter the workforce or transfer to a university with these credits upon high school graduation.

Certifications

Our nine colleges offer non-degree programs that award diplomas and certificates. These can last from a few weeks to several months. This is a great way to learn a particular skill without pursuing educational requirements for a degree.

Workforce Training &
Professional Development

Our colleges train students for employment by providing quality educational courses that meet employer’s needs. Some of the programs offered include Career and Technical programs, Corporate Solutions, Economic Development, Small Business Development Centers, and Safety Training. The Community College Petrochemical Initiative (CCPI) offers a plethora of opportunities and scholarships for technical workforce training.

Hear What Our Students Have to Say!

  • Sometimes college can be a place where you can get easily lost in the crowd. As a SGA and PTK officer, I want to impact the student population by making them feel part of something great.

  • We have all had to make a lot of sacrifices for each other, but every minute of it has been worth it. I am so thankful to the high school and to WCJC for providing this program and for saving us time and money. I truly hope the school continues to offer ROAR and that many more students take advantage of it.
